Madrid, Spain, October 5, 2005 — At the Broadband World Forum in Madrid, the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) presented Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) with its prestigious InfoVision award, recognizing Alcatel's leadership in access network technologies and services.
New in 2005, the InfoVision awards honor technologies, applications, products, and services judged to be the most unique and beneficial to the telecommunications industry. Alcatel is the first recipient of this award in the access network technologies and services category.
Alcatel was selected for this award based on the unique capabilities of its Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) family of products, which provide a flexible solution enabling service providers to transform their broadband access networks to support full triple play solutions.
"Alcatel is honored to receive this recognition from the IEC," said Michel Rahier, President of Alcatel's fixed communications activities. "It is reflective of Alcatel's commitment and contribution to the development of leading edge technologies such as VDSL2 and GPON. It also shows that the market acknowledges the Alcatel ISAM family as truly innovative and groundbreaking."
Over 35 customers around the world have committed to deploy Alcatel's ISAM products. For example, customers include China Telecom, Telecom Italia, SBC, Bell South, and Telefónica Brazil.
