Paris, January 24, 2006 - At the TVoDSL conference in Paris, which opens today, Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) continues to demonstrate its leadership in triple play, including IPTV, through new solutions, demonstrations and presentations. Alcatel has gained unparalleled experience in services integration and end-to-end network design through its work with more than 30 triple play projects around the world. Alcatel also outlines its vision of the triple play market, confirming that a significant milestone - two million IPTV subscribers - was reached during 2005. Alcatel projects that the number of IPTV subscribers will grow to 70 million by 2010.

Alcatel's triple play leadership is demonstrated in the following areas:

Alcatel will provide an example of the hardware and software elements needed to meet the scalability, reliability and quality of service requirements of an IPTV solution. This demonstration will feature the MicrosoftTV IPTV Edition software platform, which is a key component of the global collaboration agreement between the two companies that is designed to rapidly accelerate the availability of IPTV services for broadband operators worldwide. In addition to IPTV, several new triple play applications will be shown, highlighting how triple play will change the end-user TV experience.
